DSC SYSTEM

I have a trouble light display on my keypad, what does it mean?

  • Press *2 and look at the number it gives you on the keypad.  If not shown, press left/right arrow key to see the number it displays
  • Zone 1 light = Service Required (If this light comes on, press 1, then observe what light comes on and see chart directly below:
Zone 1 light Low Battery (This is the main control panel battery  that needs to be replace)
Zone 2 light Bell Circuit Trouble (The bell wire may be cut, damaged, or shorted)
Zone 2 light General System Trouble
Zone 4 light General System Tamper
Zone 5 light General System Supervisory
Zone 6 light NOT USED
Zone 7 light 5204 Aux Power Supply has a Low Battery
Zone 8 light 5204 Aux Power Supply has an AC Power Loss

Zone 2 light = AC Failure (Electric Power Fail)
Zone 3 light = Telephone Line Trouble
Zone 4 light = Fail to Communicate (FTC) Zone 5 light = Zone Fault (including Fire Zones)Zone 6 light = Zone Tamper

  • Recent change to a new phone company or using a Cable Phone , the signal may be trapped, call office to place system on test and force trapped signals out)

Zone 7 light = Device Low Battery (if this light comes on, press 7, then observe what light comes on to identify what zone has the low battery)

Zone 8 light = Loss of System Time (Refer to:  “How do I change Time on DSC System?”)

Note:  This is for Wireless System Only

  • If you have: 

    • LOW BATTERY, schedule a service call to replace battery, have battery shipped to you, or your may purchase the battery on your own.  The system uses a 12V 4AH battery, make sure to call our office to place your alarm on test prior to changing the battery on your own to avoid false alarm.
    • AC FAIL, check electrical breakers, ensure the power transformer for your alarm panel is plugged in.
    • COMMUNICATION FAILURE TROUBLE (FTC), call office to place your system on test to avoid false alarm.  Then press and hold onto your manual test button for 5 seconds, release the button and the trouble signal will be cleared.  If it does not clear, call our office to assist you.
    • LOSS OF TIME, this happens after a total power outage, including Battery Back-up. Follow this step to reset your time.
      • Set Current Time:  Press *6 + (4 Digit – Master Code) +1, enter the current time (in a 24 Hour Clock mode, also known as Military Time).  Then enter the current date (in MM/DD/YY: enter 2-digit Month, 2-digit Day, 2-digit year format, then press #)
  • EXAMPLE: To enter time for 1:30 pm, and the date is August 10, 2012 enter the following:  *6 Master Code 1 1330 081012 #

My ready light is not ON or a Zone Show Open?

If you do not have a green light, a zone light indicating what number should be on or zone number should appear on the LCD keypad letting you know what zones are open.

      • DSC System:   Press left and right arrow key to scroll to the next open zone
      • Ademco System:  Press the asterick (*) key to display all open zones.

Make sure all windows, doors, rollup – gates are properly closed.  If the keypad still show open you can BYPASS  that zone or zones to arm the system.

Remember, any open zones that is bypassed will not trigger the alarm and is consider unprotected.

How do I bypass?

      • DSC System:  Press (*) 1 and then the zone numbers that you wish to bypass until all of the zone that you wish to bypass is bypassed and then hit the octotroph/pound (#) key to finish.  The ready light should now be on and the system is ready to be armed.
      • Ademco System:  Enter your alarm code and then press 6, follow the two digit numbers of the zone that you wish to bypass until all of the zone that you wish to bypass is bypassed.  The ready light should now be on and the system is ready to be armed.  Also you can enter your alarm code and then press 6, following by the octotroph/pound (#) key to enable quick bypass to bypass all open zone at one time.

Remember, any open zones that is bypassed will not trigger the alarm and is consider unprotected.

How to turn on/off my chime function?

      • DSC System:  Depending on keypad version, press and hold onto the chime button or press *4
      • Ademco System:  Enter your 4 digit alarm code + 9

How to change time on my keypad?

*6+ 4-digit Master Code + 1 + 4-digit Military Time + 2-digit Month + 2-digit Day + Last 2-digit of Year.

Example:  *6+1234+1+1300+02+08+12+#

How do I change my 4-digit Keypad Code?

DSC SYSTEM

There are 35 access codes that you can change. Codes 01-32 are for general users of the alarm. Codes 33-34 are duress code (this is in case of an emergency, this will disarm the alarm normal, but will send a silent panic alarm to the monitoring station to dispatch police immediately) Code 40 is the Master Code.  This code allows you to change the other codes.

To change a code:

  • Step 1:  Press *5 then enter your 4-digit MASTER code (Press 01 if you wish to change code 01, 06 if you wish to change code 06 etc.)
  • Step 2:  Enter the new code
  • Step 3:  Press # to exit the programming mode

How do I change my 4-digit Keypad Code?

  • Changing an Existing Master Code (Master changing itself)

At the keypad, enter:   4-digit Master Code + 8 + 02 + New 4-digit Master Code + New 4-digit Master Code

                  This will change the master code.  The new code is keyed twice for verification.

You will get a single beep to verify the entry was accepted.

                  For Example:  If the Master code is 1234 and you would like to change to 5678,

                  Key the following:  1234 802 5678 5678 

  • Programming a Secondary User Code (Codes 03-48)

At the keypad, enter:   4-digit Master Code + 8 + 02 + [USER POSITION]  + New 4-digit Master Code

You will get a single beep to verify the entry was accepted.

The USER POSITION will be a 2-digit entry of 03, 04, 05, etc.

For example, if the master code is 1234 and wants to add a code of 5678 as user # 03,

                  Key the following:  1234 803 5678

  • Deleting a Secondary User Code (Codes 03-48)

At the keypad, enter:   4-digit Master Code + 8 + 02 + [USER POSITION]  + # + 0

You will get a single beep to verify the entry was accepted.

The USER POSITION will be a 2-digit entry of 03, 04, 05, etc.

For example, if the master code is 1234 and wants to delete user # 03,

                  Key the following:  1234 803 #0
